COSILAB Overview
ROTEXO's main product is COSILAB, the leading software simulation tool that delivers powerful computational technology combined with a comprehensive suite of equally powerful physical-chemical state-of-the-art models exclusively for – and specialized on – combustion and reactive-flow simulations of all levels of complexity. The uniqueness of the virtual simulation laboratory COSILAB is based on its focus on – and hence outstanding capabilities for – solving fluid-flow problems in which accurate consideration of chemistry is a basic prerequisite for the success of cost-effective system design with increased energy efficiency and/or reduced pollutant emissions.
At its most fundamental level, COSILAB enables the simulation of a great variety of idealized chemical reactors, flames or combustion geometries with detailed chemistry, thermodynamics and molecular transport. However, with the advanced technical and physical-modeling possibilities available today, COSILAB has grown into a general reactive-flow and combustion simulation laboratory with the power to explore potential industrial solutions during the design phase, well before costly prototyping.
This is a small selection of COSILAB features and tools:
Visual Reaction-Pathway Analysis with PATHFINDER
COSILAB's graphical reaction-pathway analysis tool PATHFINDER enables designers to identify in their systems dominant reaction pathways that under certain operating conditions may cause, e.g., pollutant formation and hence emissions. PATHFINDER provides visual and quantitative analysis. It is a powerful tool that can be used to optimize operating conditions, or to develop or reduce kinetic mechanisms.
Reactor Networks
Highly complex physico-chemical processes in reactors, furnaces and combustion plants can, if appropriate, effectively be described as networks consisting of individual model reactors, flames and other components such as mixers, splitters, separators and heat exchangers. COSILAB's powerful reactor-network designer lets you visually compose such networks, which then are solved accurately and efficiently for both steady and transient operating conditions.
Two-Dimensional Reactors and Flames
Industry-relevant problems often are characterized by more than one space dimension and can not, or only inadequately, be idealized. COSILAB's 2D solvers with self-adaptive griding techniques and detailed gasphase and surface chemistry provide unique possibilities.

Spray and Dust Flames
In technical applications, spray combustion is a widely used mode of combustion. COSILAB offers unique options for the simulation of spray and dust flames. For the gas phase, detailed chemistry and thermodynamics are taken into account. For the condensed phase, various alternative models are available.
