Academic-Support Information

For COSILAB users from universities and non-profit institutions, there are various alternative sources of help and support, viz.:

User Manuals

The following user manuals are included in the COSILAB distribution:

  • Beginner's Guide;
  • Thermodynamics & Molecular Transport
  • Gasphase Chemistry
  • Chemical Equilibrium
  • Homogeneous Systems & Batch Reactors
  • Partially and Perfectly Stirred Reactors (PaSRs and PSRs)
  • 1D Premixed Flames & Counterflow Flames
  • Spherical Flames & Reactors
  • Tubular Flames & Reactors
  • Two-Phase Flames
  • Goodies

The user manuals are available as pdf-documents. They can also be accessed through the COSILAB graphical user interface.

Tutorials

In each user manual one or several written tutorials are included. There is an extra written tutorial on one-dimensional premixed flames, and there are video tutorials on the application of

  • reaction-pathway analysis, and
  • the batch-job submission utility BatchRunner.

Built-In Help System

The built-in help system can be accessed from within COSILAB.

Solved Example Problems

The solved examples problems provide a detailed source of help, in particular regarding the specification of the various  documents or datasets. Often an example that is similar to a user case provides guidance and help.

The solved examples currently encompass the following classes, each class consisting of a number of individual examples cases:

  • chemical equilibrium
  • transient homogeneous processes
  • transient homogeneous processes with instantaneous sensitivity analysis
  • partially (PaSR) and perfectly stirred reactors (PSR)
  • plug-flow reactors
  • plug-flow reactors with surface chemistry
  • 1D premixed, freely propagating flames
  • 1D premixed, burner-stabilized flames
  • counterflow premixed flames
  • counterflow diffusion flames
  • counterflow diffusion flames in mixture-fraction space
  • spherical flames and reactors
  • tubular flames and reactors
  • spherically symmetrical, evaporating and burning drops
  • streams of drops in flames
  • free jet flames

Many of the examples include

  • sensitivity analysis and
  • reaction-pathway analysis.

Also included are examples of the application of

  • user functions

with which one can overwrite default models for chemistry, thermodynamics and transport, the default boundary conditions, or similar parameters.

Papers Selection

The papers selection encompasses numerous references to COSILAB-related publications. Many of the papers cited there can be downloaded from this website.

User Forum

The user forum is open to anybody, not just to COSILAB users, and it can be accessed through this website.

Technical Support

Unlimited technical support is available to all COSILAB licensees.
