Chemisches Gleichgewicht
The determination of chemicical equilibrium is one of the oldest, perseverative tasks in combustion because knowledge about chemical equilibrium is required for numerous applications. Applications of chemical equilibria occur in all areas of combustion, laminar and turbulent, single-phase and multi-phase. Examples are predictions or estimates of adiabatic flame temperatures or of equilibrium composition at a given temperature.
The figure shows a screenshot of Cosilab with the menu for the selection of the type of chemical equilibrium to be calculated pulled down.
It can be seen that a variety of different chemical equilibria is accounted for and that, in addition, some processes related to detonation and adiabatic compression or expansion are included.
Not only calculates Cosilab chemical equilibium. It also calculates and outputs -- at chemical equilibrium conditions -- specific heats, enthalpies and other thermodynamic data, together with transport data such as thermal conductivities and viscosities as well as diffusion coefficients and Lewis numbers. Information on these quantities can be useful in a great variety of combustion problems.
